Eovart Grischun opens bid for Vuodean Senate seat

During a press release yesterday the 29th of April, the current Vuode Premieir Eovart "Eðo" Grischun announced to the press his candidacy for Vuode's Senate seat.

Grischun will formally announce his bid on May 9th, with over three or four months to go before the election. He stated that he would run a press campaign all through the summer. The current holder of the seat, Sir Trotxa Betiñeir, was appointed to serve as an interim senator following Viteu Marcianüs's departure from Talossa during the last General Election.

Grischun, 29, former leader of the Progressive Party (as PPT, CSP and CSPP), five time Member of the Cosa and two time Minister of Culture, resigned all his Talossan offices over a year ago in order to tend some extra-Talossan personal matters which requested his absolute attention.

The news arrives shortly after the Minister of Finance Istefan Perþonest resigned his post after that the Senate had blocked his Coinage project. This led many to think about the actual support of the Senate to Glüc da Dhi's cabinet.

While the government holds a narrow 104-96 majority in the Cosa (its VoC records being 200-0, 131-36 and 156-24), even if the Senators aren't formally assigned to a party but to their province, it hasn't technically got a majority in the Senate, as four senators out of eight are aligned with the RUMP (Holmes (KA), Preston (MM), Betiñeir (VD) and d'Auribuérg (FL)) with the other half belonging to three different parties (da Dhi (CZ) and Carschaleir (BE) to the MRPT, Schiva (FV) to the ZRT and Tresplet (MA) to the Liberals).

With Grischun being a progressive, if he'll win Vuode's seat this would change the balance of the Senate towards the current governing coalition, or at least - given that all four RUMPer senators belong to the conservative wing of the party - soften the Senate's overall attitude towards S:r da Dhi's team's policies.
