Responding to the statment issued by the Free Democratic Alliance Executive Committee, Seneschal C. Carlüs Xheraltescù has confirmed that troubled Senator Txosuè Rôibeardescù will for the moment remain a member of the Liberal Congress party, and has called for a halt in what he claims may “become a witch-hunt”. According to the Seneschal, who was travelling at the outset of the BEER Affair, “as far as I am concerned, resignation from the position of Commissioner [by Rôibeardescù] is good enough for me”. The embattled Senator, implicated in an attempt to influence a Member of the Cosa to drop a bill making extravagant extraterrestial land claims, remains suspended from the Free Democratic Alliance, of which the Liberal Congress is a constituent party.
The Seneschal stated that Senator Rôibeardescù’s admission of his personal difficulties and his resignation as Civil Service Commissioner took “guts as well as honour”, and expressed concern that further sanctions against the Senator would “become a witch-hunt”. The Seneschal further stated that the Senator’s political future “is up to the people of Cezembre”.
S:reu Xheraltescù also announced his resignation as Capitan (governor) of Fiova. The Seneschal cited lack of time since his appointment as head of the government. A by-election to fill the vacant position will be held later in August, with Ian Luïc C. Baptiçistà the only announced candidate so far.
